All MimicWOW changes are separate patch files that sit outside Wow.exe.
Wow.exe has NOT been modified. No game code has been altered.

New player? Just run the launcher: it installs the Normal or HD client for you (pick a folder, it resumes if your internet drops).
Already playing? Put it in your WoW folder (next to Wow.exe) and start the game with it: it downloads every MimicWOW patch and addon update, offers the HD Pack, shows the news, then starts WoW. Download MimicWOW Launcher (1.3 MB) Windows may say "unknown publisher" the first time: click More info then Run anyway. It never changes Wow.exe. Already included in the full client downloads.
⚠ WINDOWS DEFENDER FALSE POSITIVE
Windows Defender may block the launcher with a name ending in "!ml", such as "Trojan:Win32/Bearfoos.A!ml" or "Program:Win32/Contebrew.A!ml". That is a false positive: the "!ml" means it is an automatic machine-learning guess about a new, unsigned program, not a real virus. We wrote this launcher ourselves; it only downloads MimicWOW's own patch files and starts WoW. We have reported it to Microsoft to be cleared.
If it gets blocked: open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Protection history, click the MimicWOW-Launcher entry, choose Actions > Allow on device, then download it again. If you would rather not, skip the launcher and update from the Downloads page instead.

New player? Download the full client

Download MimicWOW Client (18.0 GB)
The full client already includes every MimicWOW patch and the WarbandCamp and Journal addons. If you download it here, you do not need the patch file below.
Download the full HD client (about 23.9 GB)
The HD client includes everything: the full MimicWOW client, every MimicWOW patch, the HD login, character and loading screens, AND the whole HD Pack (armors, models, mounts, terrain, trees, water and dungeon maps). Nothing else to download. Needs a decent PC; if it stutters, lower Shadows or use the normal client instead.
  1. Unzip it anywhere (about 18 GB free space needed).
  2. Create your account: krinwars.com/mimicwow-join
  3. Run Wow.exe and log in. The realm is MimicWOW.

Already have the client? Just update the patch

Only needed if you downloaded the client before an update. Put patch-M.MPQ, Patch-A.MPQ, Patch-L.MPQ and patch-K.MPQ in your client's Data folder (replace any old copies), and delete Data\enUS\patch-enUS-4.MPQ if you have it. Without the latest patch, custom items show as a red "?".

Optional: MimicWOW HD Pack

Download the HD Pack (about 5.9 GB)

HD armors, character models, mounts, terrain, trees, water and dungeon maps. Looks only, and completely optional. Unzip it, copy its Data files into your WoW Data folder and its Interface\AddOns folders into your WoW Interface\AddOns folder, then delete your Cache folder. The pack's README.txt has the details. It's heavy: if WoW stutters, lower Shadows in Video options.

To install: close WoW, unzip the file, and copy the folders inside into your client's Interface\AddOns folder (create it if it's missing). Then on the character select screen click AddOns (bottom left) and make sure they're ticked. Pick one damage meter (Details, Skada or Recount) and one boss mod (DBM, DBM Classic or BigWigs), not more than one of each. The HD Pack and HD client already include Mapster.

Widescreen or ultrawide monitor?

Normal widescreen (1920x1080, 2560x1440): just pick it in Video options > Resolution.

Ultrawide (2560x1080, 3440x1440) not in the list? Close WoW, open WTF\Config.wtf in your client folder with Notepad, and add or change these lines (use your monitor's resolution):

SET gxResolution "3440x1440"
SET gxWindow "1"
SET gxMaximize "1"

That runs WoW as a borderless full-screen window. Wider screens show more of the world instead of stretching. If the interface looks too small, turn on Interface options > Use UI Scale and move the slider. Please don't use "FOV changer" or modified Wow.exe downloads from other sites.
